East Greenwich, Rhode Island

Besides being an architecturally gorgeous mixture of rich history and new construction, East Greenwich has incredible historical significance for Rhode Island. East Greenwich was one of five state capitals in Rhode Island. But more significantly, East Greenwich Rhode Island is considered to be the birthplace of the American Navy. This dates back to 1775 when a meeting of the Rhode Island General assembly in East Greenwich passed the resolution which created the first formal governmentally authorized Navy in the Western Hemisphere.
East Greenwich is approximately 17 square miles in size. It has a bustling waterfront which is home to not only docks but restaurants, bars, housing, and seemingly endless recreational activities. Up the hill from quaint Main Street is the Hill and Harbor district where each street is a lesson in historical architecture boasting many period Colonial and Victorian homes.
East Greenwich is the wealthiest municipality in Rhode Island. Its schools are always ranked at or near the top for the state of Rhode Island. As the town grew and new construction began in what was once Woods, examples of some of the most artfully inspired residential homes in the state are present here.
Even with its rich history and present accolades East Greenwich has not lost its small-town feel and neighborly good charm.
